Self-care is work, and it puts the onus on the individual to ensure their own health and well-being are prioritized. Community care recognizes that we don’t all have equal access to time and money, which are the main resources required for care. You can say: “Hey, I know you’re working from home and taking care of your grandmother. A part of community care is assessing what others may need, offering to provide it, and following through when the offer is accepted. Easing the burden other people carry and speaking up so they don’t have to is an important part of community care.
